In 2011, the DCI reported on a number of awards, grants and events that continued to strengthen the Food For Thought program. In March the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce recognized the contributions the program had been making to the communities of Delta County by awarding Food For Thought the Volunteer of the Year Award.

That year the Delta County Independent also covered Food For Thought's expansion to Cedaredge, the Lions Club's donations to FFT, and donations made by Forest Service employees.
